International Women’s Day 2026: NIA Celebrates Women Driving Nigeria’s Insurance Industry

As the world marks the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day, the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has paid tribute to women making remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s insurance sector.

In a goodwill message celebrating Women-in-Insurance, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the association, Bola Odukale, commended female professionals for their dedication, resilience, and leadership in shaping the industry.

Celebrating the Impact of Women in Insurance

Odukale described women working in the insurance profession as “extraordinary individuals” whose commitment and professionalism have significantly strengthened the sector over the years.

She highlighted how women continue to excel in demanding professional roles while managing responsibilities at home—demonstrating strength, determination, and unwavering commitment.

“Today, we celebrate the extraordinary women whose dedication, professionalism, and resilience have been instrumental in shaping and advancing the insurance industry,” she stated.

Breaking Barriers and Inspiring the Next Generation

According to the NIA Director General, women in the industry have consistently overcome workplace and societal challenges by breaking barriers, dismantling stereotypes, and proving that excellence knows no gender.

Their achievements, she noted, are inspiring a new generation of women to pursue leadership roles and make meaningful impact within the insurance ecosystem.

“Give to Gain” — A Theme for Growth and Transformation

As Nigeria’s insurance sector undergoes major reforms, including ongoing recapitalisation, Odukale emphasized that the theme for this year’s celebration, “Give to Gain,” reflects the journey ahead for the industry.

She encouraged women practitioners to continue contributing their best through:

  • Innovation and creative thinking
  • Professional dedication
  • Strong leadership
  • Industry collaboration

According to her, these contributions will help the sector fully harness the benefits of recapitalisation and achieve sustainable growth.

NIA Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Advancement

The Nigerian Insurers Association also reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women in the insurance profession by creating platforms that promote recognition, leadership development, and professional growth.

Odukale noted that the association will continue to amplify women’s voices and celebrate their achievements, acknowledging their vital role in shaping the future of the industry.

As the global community celebrates International Women’s Day, the NIA message highlights the growing influence of women in Nigeria’s insurance sector and their crucial role in driving innovation, resilience, and economic progress.
