CIIN Celebrates Insurance Sector Doyens at Elders’ Forum in Lagos

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has once again demonstrated its commitment to preserving institutional memory and professional excellence with the hosting of the annual CIIN Elders’ Forum in Lagos.

The prestigious gathering brought together respected insurance industry elders and pioneers, creating a platform for reflection, mentorship, and collaboration with current industry leaders—all in the interest of shaping the future of Nigeria’s insurance profession.

Honouring Experience, Wisdom, and Legacy

The CIIN Elders’ Forum is designed to celebrate the men and women whose leadership, expertise, and vision helped lay the foundation of Nigeria’s modern insurance industry. The event offered an opportunity for these doyens to reconnect, share insights from their years as industry captains, and provide guidance to emerging professionals.

Through open interaction and reflection, the elders also helped chart a forward-looking path for the industry—one rooted in ethics, professionalism, and sustainability.

CIIN President Pays Tribute to Industry Elders

Addressing the gathering, CIIN President, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, expressed deep appreciation and respect for the elders, describing their presence as both inspiring and invaluable.

“Distinguished elders, it is with great delight and a deep sense of honour that I welcome you to this auspicious gathering. I bring you heartfelt greetings from the Governing Council of our great institute and wish you all a happy new year, as this marks the first official event of the institute this year,” she said.

Mrs. Ilori further expressed gratitude to God for His guidance over the institute and for preserving the lives of its esteemed elders throughout 2025, noting that such blessings should never be taken for granted.

A Rare Privilege and a Continuing Commitment

According to the CIIN President, it is a rare privilege to be in the presence of individuals who have accumulated decades of knowledge, experience, and professional wisdom. She emphasized that the elders’ continued engagement reflects their enduring commitment to the growth of the insurance profession and the broader Nigerian society.

Their presence, she noted, serves as a bridge between generations—connecting the industry’s past achievements with its future aspirations.

Strengthening the Future of Nigeria’s Insurance Industry

The CIIN Elders’ Forum reinforces the Institute’s belief that sustainable industry growth requires mentorship, collaboration, and respect for legacy. By fostering dialogue between past and present leaders, CIIN continues to nurture a strong professional culture that supports upcoming insurance practitioners.

As Nigeria’s insurance industry navigates regulatory reforms, digital transformation, and evolving customer expectations, the wisdom of its pioneers remains a vital compass.

Celebrating Those Who Built the Profession

Through initiatives like the Elders’ Forum, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria reaffirms its role as the custodian of professional standards, ethics, and continuous development within the insurance sector.

The celebration of insurance sector doyens is not just a tribute—it is a reminder that the future of insurance in Nigeria is strongest when it is built on the foundations laid by those who came before.
