NIA Trains Underwriters on NIIRA 2025 Compulsory Insurance Provisions

The Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA) has successfully conducted a two-day training workshop for underwriters on Compulsory Container Insurance, as mandated under Section 203 of the NIIRA 2025.

Opening the session, Mrs. Bola Odukale, Director-General of NIA, highlighted the pivotal role of insurance in driving national development, enhancing investor confidence, and protecting the public. She emphasized that a well-regulated and legally backed insurance industry is crucial to Nigeria’s economic growth.

“Insurance is not just about risk management; it is a critical pillar of economic stability and public protection. By actively engaging in this training, participants will strengthen their professional capacity and ensure effective implementation of compulsory insurance provisions for the benefit of the entire economy,” Odukale said.

The workshop, held at Insurers House, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together over 40 container insurance underwriters. Participants were equipped with the knowledge and skills required to implement the compulsory insurance mandates effectively, in line with NIIRA 2025.

This initiative reflects NIA’s ongoing commitment to capacity building, regulatory compliance, and the development of a robust insurance sector that supports Nigeria’s economic agenda.
