Heirs Insurance Celebrates Travel Insurance Festival, Advocates Inclusive Travel for Africans

Heirs Insurance Group has hosted its Travel Insurance Festival, a vibrant gathering that brought together travel enthusiasts, diplomats, creatives, entrepreneurs, and young Nigerians to celebrate cultural diversity while advocating for fairer and more inclusive global travel systems.

The event went beyond entertainment and cultural expression, serving as a strategic advocacy platform that highlighted the urgent need for reforms in international travel policies, visa systems, and bilateral agreements that continue to limit travel opportunities for millions of Africans.

Promoting Equity in Global Travel

According to Heirs Insurance, the festival was designed to spark conversations around passport power, mobility, and diplomacy, while reinforcing the importance of travel insurance in today’s interconnected world.

Speaking at the event, Chief Marketing Officer, Heirs Insurance Group, Ifesinachi Okpanku, said the festival, themed “Promoting Cultural Diversity and an Inclusive Travel Ecosystem,” was a deliberate effort to amplify voices calling for equitable travel policies.

She noted that travel should not be defined by nationality or restricted by outdated systems, stressing the need for collaboration among governments, institutions, and private-sector players to create fairer access to global mobility.

High-Level Panel on Passport Power and Diplomacy

A major highlight of the festival was a thought-provoking panel session titled “Passport Power and Diplomacy.” The session featured distinguished speakers with deep global experience, including:

  • Ambassador Manuel Innocencio de Lacerda Santos Junior, a Brazilian diplomat with over five decades of service across four continents
  • Ambassador Jose Bamóquina Zau, Angola’s Ambassador to Nigeria
  • Stephanie Busari, CEO of SBB Media and former CNN Senior Editor

The panel was expertly moderated by veteran broadcaster Jonathan Hanson, who guided conversations around diplomacy, border policies, and Africa’s place in global travel systems.

Call for Easier Visa Processes Across Africa

During the discussion, panellists emphasised the urgent need for:

  • Simplified and transparent visa application processes
  • Stronger and smarter border control systems
  • Harmonised travel and immigration frameworks across African nations

They agreed that these reforms are essential to enable Africans to move more freely across the continent and participate fully in global economic, cultural, and creative exchanges.

Insurance as a Partner in Safe and Inclusive Travel

Heirs Insurance reiterated its commitment to supporting safe, seamless, and inclusive travel through innovative travel insurance solutions tailored to modern travellers. The company noted that as mobility increases, access to reliable travel insurance becomes even more critical in protecting travellers against unforeseen risks.

Driving Conversations Beyond Insurance

The Travel Insurance Festival reflects Heirs Insurance Group’s broader mission to improve lives and champion inclusion beyond financial protection. By combining culture, policy dialogue, and advocacy, the company continues to position itself as a forward-thinking leader in Nigeria’s insurance industry.
