NSITF Urges Employers to Embrace Data-Driven Solutions for Workplace Safety

In a bold move to modernize workplace health and safety standards in Nigeria, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, has called on employers to adopt data-driven solutions that prioritize proactive safety over traditional compliance.

Speaking at the ongoing “Enhanced Occupational Safety and Health” training held at Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Ibadan, Faleye emphasized that the changing nature of workplaces demands smarter, technology-powered strategies to ensure worker protection and long-term sustainability.

“Workplace environments are constantly evolving. To ensure worker safety, we must go beyond compliance and adopt proactive, tech-enabled systems that not only boost productivity but also save lives,” said Faleye.

Moving Towards Safer, Smarter, and Digitally-Driven Workspaces

Faleye, represented at the event by Mr. Tony Eke, General Manager, Health Safety and Environment Department, described the training as a key milestone in NSITF’s commitment to integrating automated health and safety strategies into Nigeria’s workforce culture.

He noted that the NSITF had already digitized its internal operations, and the purpose of the training was to empower stakeholders with the tools, knowledge, and digital skills needed to adapt and thrive in a more technology-driven safety environment.

“This initiative speaks directly to our mission to protect, preserve, and promote the dignity and well-being of every Nigerian worker,” he added.

Holistic Safety Training Backed by Industry Experts

Organized in collaboration with Beam Box Projects and Consulting Services Limited, the four-day program is part of a trilogy of safety training modules supported by the NSITF to build capacity and promote occupational health innovation.

The full trilogy includes:
“Enhanced Occupational Safety and Health” – Focused on digital safety transformation
“Driving Workplace Safety from a Compliant to Profit-Driven Perspective” – Conducted by Surez Global Resources Nigeria Limited
“Technology and Safeware Skills: Excel Skills for Data Analytics and Visualization” – Facilitated by Sky Quest Concept Limited

These trainings aim to shift the mindset of employers and organizations from basic safety compliance to strategic and profit-driven safety investments, highlighting how data analytics, automation, and predictive tools can prevent incidents and improve operational efficiency.

Why Employers Must Act Now

As Nigeria pushes toward safer and more sustainable work environments, the NSITF is urging all business owners, HR professionals, and safety officers to leverage digital transformation in their Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) frameworks.

Embracing data visualization, automated risk assessment tools, and tech-enhanced safety practices is no longer optional -it’s essential for worker protection and corporate growth.
