Linkage Assurance CFO Emmanuel Otitolaiye Becomes Pioneer Chairman of ICAN-NIA Chapter

Emmanuel Otitolaiye, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Linkage Assurance Plc, has been inaugurated as the pioneer chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) – Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Chapter.

The inauguration, held at the Insurers’ House in Victoria Island, Lagos, was presided over by the 60th ICAN President, Davidson Alaribe. The event brought together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s accounting and insurance industries, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two sectors.

In his acceptance speech, Otitolaiye expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the newly created chapter, pledging to uphold professionalism and promote excellence in accounting. “It is with great delight, a sense of responsibility, and immense gratitude to the Almighty God that I accept my election and formal investiture as the Pioneer Chairman of the ICAN-NIA Chapter,” he said.

Otitolaiye emphasized the chapter’s commitment to fostering innovation, adapting to emerging trends, and prioritizing lifelong learning for its members. He outlined his administration’s key focus areas, including membership growth, training, and strategic partnerships.

“Our Chapter will actively seek opportunities to collaborate with organizations, regulatory bodies, and academia to strengthen the profession, advocate for members’ interests, and shape the future of accounting in Nigeria,” he added.

ICAN President Davidson Alaribe commended Otitolaiye’s achievements, urging younger professionals to draw inspiration from his career journey. “Dr. Otitolaiye has worked hard to build himself in both the insurance and accounting professions. Younger accountants should take bold steps and redefine their futures by building themselves for success,” Alaribe said.

About Emmanuel Otitolaiye

Born on September 4, 1972, in Egbeda-Egga, Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State, Emmanuel Otitolaiye is a seasoned finance expert with extensive experience in accounting, financial management, and business planning across various sectors, including insurance, manufacturing, and consulting.

His career journey began in 2000 with CFAO Nigeria Plc as a Credit Control Officer. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles, including National Credit Control Manager at PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Head of Finance at FBN Life Assurance, and Head of Finance and Performance Management at Cornerstone Insurance Plc.

Since joining Linkage Assurance Plc in December 2018 as CFO, Otitolaiye has been instrumental in overseeing financial operations, statutory reporting, and performance management.

An accomplished academic, Otitolaiye holds multiple qualifications, including a Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance from Lagos State Polytechnic, a BSc in Accounting from the University of Lagos, an MSc and PhD in Accounting from Babcock University, and an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCIT). He is also an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACII) and the Chartered Institute of Insurance Brokers (ACIB).

Otitolaiye currently serves as the Chairman of the Accounting Technical Committee of the Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA) and holds leadership positions in various professional and community organizations.

This groundbreaking appointment marks a new chapter for ICAN and NIA, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration and progress within Nigeria’s accounting and insurance industries.
