Heirs Insurance Group Empowers Makoko Community through Sustainability Initiative

Heirs Insurance Group has extended its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to underserved communities in Lagos by launching The Good Project. This initiative focuses on environmental sustainability and community upliftment through education and resource empowerment.

During an event in the Makoko community, over 500 schoolchildren were provided with school supplies and financial support. The project also introduced participants to the concept of upcycling—converting waste materials into reusable items—as a means of promoting environmental sustainability and generating financial benefits.

In partnership with Slum2School Africa and Eco Barter, Heirs Insurance Group implemented this initiative to create awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of upcycling. The project aligns with the organization’s sustainability goals while addressing immediate community needs.

Speaking about the initiative, Niyi Onifade, Sector Head of Heirs Insurance Group, emphasized the dual impact of the project: “Through this project, we are not only reducing waste and enhancing the environment but also improving lives and creating awareness about the financial opportunities tied to sustainability.”

Onifade further highlighted the importance of the monetary donations and school supplies, which aim to ease the financial burden on families as they prepare for the school year.

Heirs Insurance Group has consistently integrated sustainability into its core operations, showcasing the transformative power of corporate responsibility. The Good Project represents one of the organization’s flagship initiatives designed to drive meaningful change in local communities.

As a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings, a leading pan-African investment company, Heirs Insurance Group continues to expand its impact through innovative projects and partnerships that serve both corporate and individual customers across Nigeria.

This initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, education, and economic empowerment, demonstrating how businesses can contribute positively to societal development.
