Sky Insurance Implicated in Liberia

SKY International Insurance Company, one of the leading insurance companies in the country, has been linked to the ongoing economic sabotage trial of former National Port Authority Managing Director, Matilda Parker, and her comptroller, Christina Paelay.

Parker and Paelay are accused of awarding two illegal contracts to wreck the Greenville Port in Sinoe County and to provide security consultancy to officers in the employ of Liberia Seaport Police, all to one Deneah Flomo and his Demar Enterprise.

SKY insurance reportedly submitted a performance bond claiming the company performed the jobs despite the NPA’s contention that the work was never done based on an investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

LACC Chief Investigator Blamo Koffa alleged that the ‘performance bond’ from SKY Insurance, submitted during the investigation, was marred with irregularities.

Koffa alleged that the bond was also not signed by Flomo, an act which indicated the completion of the contract.

The LACC also claimed that the document was presented by defendant Parker.

Parker produced a copy of the SKY Insurance performance bond as her proof that Demar Enterprise was a legitimate wrecking company and did the job it was contracted for, but, “We observed that the document was not signed by Flomo the engineer. We also observed the word PP written in place of the signature on the bond.”

The case continues today with witness Koffa still on the stand.
