NIA To Release Annual Industry Statistics


The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) intends to release vital industry statistics including premium income generated and claims paid, among others, for the year ended December 2014, today June 25 in Lagos.
The Director-General of NIA, Olorundare Thomas, stated that these statistics about the nation’s insurance industry will be unveiled during the 44th Annual General Meeting of the association.

According to him, the meeting will also afford members the opportunity to dissect the chairman’s statement and report of the governing council, as well as to consider and adopt the audited accounts for year ended December 2014 ,and the treasurer’s report thereon.
He added that the business of the day will also include appointment of auditors for the ensuing year and election of officers to fill vacant positions on the Governing Council.
The NIA boss explained that the election of officers to fill vacant positions on the Governing Council is in compliance with the Association’s Constitution.
Thomas said Clause 6(1)(c) of the Association’s Constitution stipulates that not less than six or more than 12 other persons elected at the Annual General Meeting from amongst the Representatives of members.
