The Senate thursday confirmed the appointments of Professor Umaru Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) and Ahmed Lawan Kuru as the new Managing Director of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

The upper chamber also confirmed the appointments of Kola Ayeye, Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail as Executive Directors of AMCON.

Their confirmations followed the adoption of the reports of Senate Committees on Communications and Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions respectively presented by their chairmen, Senators Gilbert Nnaji and Rafiu Ibrahim, at the plenary.

Also yesterday, the Senate urged the federal government and Kogi State Government to immortalise the late former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, by naming a national or state monument after him.

The Senate which also observed a one minute silence in his honour, sent a high-powered delegation to condole with the family, people and government of Kogi State. The resolutions were preceded by a motion by Senator Abdulrahman Abubakar (Kogi East) who described Audu’s passage as a great loss to the state.
