The Nigerian insurance industry has received a fresh boost in thought leadership and historical documentation as National Insurance Commission commended a newly launched book titled “Trends in Nigeria’s Insurance Industry (2005–2026) and Selected Insurance Icons.”

The book, unveiled in Lagos, is authored by renowned insurance journalist Nike Popoola and is already being described as a major contribution to industry knowledge, history, and development.

A Valuable Record of Nigeria’s Insurance Evolution

Industry stakeholders say the publication offers a detailed account of key developments that have shaped Nigeria’s insurance sector over two decades.

According to reviewers, the book captures major milestones such as:

  • The 2007 insurance recapitalisation exercise

  • Key policy shifts that influenced industry growth

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Tope Adaramola, praised the book’s depth, describing it as an important reference for professionals and researchers.

She noted that Popoola’s reporting and documentation have helped elevate the visibility of the insurance sector and encouraged deeper public engagement.
