Anchor HMO and Rotary Club Provide Health Insurance to Displaced Maroko Residents

In a major step toward improving healthcare access for underserved Nigerians, Anchor Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) International Company Ltd has partnered with the Rotary Club of Victoria Island East to provide free health insurance coverage for 100 displaced Maroko indigenes for one year.

The partnership was formalized in Lagos during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, where stakeholders pledged their commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility for vulnerable communities.

Idorenyin Okon, General Manager of Anchor HMO, described the collaboration as a strategic move to advance universal health coverage in Nigeria.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to bringing quality healthcare to those who need it most,” Okon said, urging more civil society organizations to engage in similar Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

Dr. Sandra Nnamani, Assistant General Manager of Anchor HMO, emphasized that this partnership goes beyond charity.

“We are providing a sustainable healthcare solution, not just a one-time donation,” she noted.
Beneficiaries will have year-round access to high-standard medical services — a significant relief for families still recovering from displacement.

Rotary Club President, MokesiOluwa Seun-Adedamola, highlighted the alignment with Rotary’s mission on disease prevention and community health development.

“Instead of short-term donations, this health insurance initiative gives displaced persons real access to long-term medical care,” she said.
The Eleko area of Lagos, where many displaced Maroko residents have resettled, will be the primary focus of this intervention.

Lanre Adedoyin, District Governor of Rotary District 9112, praised the project as a strategic community contribution.

“Our goal is to remove financial barriers to healthcare for indigent residents,” he stated.
He confirmed that the insured individuals will enjoy nationwide access to hospitals and clinics offering services such as:

  • General medical consultations
  • Diagnostic services
  • Emergency care
  • Maternal and child healthcare
  • Optical and dental care
  • Surgical procedures

This initiative demonstrates how public-private partnerships can close the healthcare gap in underserved communities. Both organizations have pledged to uphold the integrity and sustainability of the program in line with the values outlined in the MoU.
